Line 1: Line 1:
 +====== Battery Disconnect ======
 +
 +a regulation battery disconnect is a required safety system, as defined in the official rules section 1.13.2
 +
 +The only approved disconnect is an "emergency stop" style button which disconnects power in the down position and allows it through in the up position. this device must either:
 +
 +- Immediately and mechanically cut the main power from the battery, or
 +
 +- Operate a contactor (not a simple relay) to cut this main power from the battery.
 +
 +Suggested part numbers for specific order are pulled from the official rules and reposted here:
 +
 +- Disconnect: Longacre LON-5245749
 +
 +- Contactor Button: Fuji Electric AR22VQL-01E3R
 +
 +neither of these are required brands, but they suffice the necessary conditions, so buy something similar for your kart.
